Seeing the athletes in the Olympic games reminds me that many will work and sacrifice for 4 years or much longer and yet only compete in front of an international audience for moments. I was fortunate to contribute to some of these stories of courage and dedication. Because of the time difference in Sydney, I was able to shoot 16mm film, have it transfered overnight, do a telecine session early am, and then have the footage edited into the "live" coverage. It was a dream for me because of the texture of film and how much I cared for some of people I was able to photograph. Jimmy Roberts is mostly known for golf coverage, but I love his writing.
